How to use EM for fish

fishPond water treatment

Depending on the size of the pond, approximately 3-4 kg of ultra fine stone meal is added to the EM-A, which is used in a ratio of 1:10,000, i.e. 1 l of EM-A to 10 m3 of water. In the case of ponds that are smaller than 40 m2, a ratio of 1:1,000 i.e. 1 l of EM-A to 1 m3 of water, should be employed.

The entire mixture is not added to the water in a single dose. Instead it is sprayed on several times (always freshly stir the mixture mentioned above) after mixing in a 1:10 dilution with pond water.

Above all, the plants and the bank areas should be treated until an improvement becomes tangible. If required, this process is then repeated at the most regular intervals possible.

In order to suppress algae growth and to constantly stabilise water quality, EM-X ceramic pipes can be attached at points where the water is in motion (e.g. aeration), EM-Bokashi bags (sack with dried EM-Bokashi K and weighted with stones) used or the traditional method of submerging a jute sack with oat straw in the pond be employed.

Preparatory unit:

0.5 l EM-A/week and rearing container (1,000 l), constant container water in- and outflow must be guaranteed.

Rearing pond:

  • Add 2 l EM-A/10 m³ of water to the pond approximately 14 days before stocking
  • Add 1 l EM-A/10 m³ of water every 10-14 days
  • Feeding: administer EM-FKE Bokashi amounting to approx. 2 % of the feed quantity.
