“For a pig farmer to start using EM he/she needs to be convinced the advantages are worth the ‘risk’. Pig farmers are loath to change anything about a pig production system that appears to be working well. My pitch today is directed at my fellow pig farmers, to assure them that EM works and is well worth the ‘risk’.
Before I start, there are two important facts that need to be appreciated.
Firstly, prior to EM, I was a heavy user of infeed antibiotics as detailed below:
Pigs 4- 9 weeks

‘De-odorase’ was used in all age groups.
Secondly, EM has been in full use on my pig farm with the formulas and inclusion rates as described below
since January 2002. Full use of EM means I have been able to stop the use of infeed antibiotics or ‘De-odorase’.”

Housed Poultry for Egg Production

Horse Health
"I have been using EM for the treatment of rye-grass staggers which my horse suffers from during December to May, 2006 and 2007, I have had amazing results in the fact that the symptoms disappear within twenty four hours and do not return. The horse can remain in his paddock during this time whereas in previous times he could not. I give him 20ml of activated EM once a day with his supplementary feed."
"My 26 year old gelding had an ongoing problem with an aggressive fungal infection in his feet. It had for some years ate away at the frog of the foot causing holes and producing a foul smelling black slime. I tried natural treatments including essential oils, homeopathic and herbal treatment and some potent stuff from the vet but again it came back. After discussion with the EM distributor I gave him EM1 straight everyday in a feed until expanded EM was available. Over the following months the condition improved significantly and although it has not gone completely, it is minimal and no longer a problem, he gets EM most days and I use this method or the treatment of grass staggers also with the result that staggers has not been a problem for the last two years.”
Composting Toilet
"I've been using EM Bokashi made with both Macrocarpa and Pine sawdust in my composting toilet for about four years. I have added about a handful per week on a reasonably regular basis. It has reduced my cleaning out from twice a year to once and the last lot I used had some ceramic powder in it as well, which seemed to work even better. The compost toilet cleanings have been put onto my veggie garden with dramatic results to the point where I will have to rest some gardens in order to grow decent carrots."
Orchards
“I'm the worm farmer you met with Fred Haskins in Sydney. EM is going well I'm having success treating scale bug in olives by using a equal part mix of EM-5 and FPE applied at 1:1:500 with molasses. We have been applying this mix fortnightly to three weeks for two or three applications. I'm also having success in treating sooty mould on the olive leaf (created by the scale bug secretions) by applying EM-A at 1:1:500. This mix is applied either between the EM-5/FPE spray or thereafter a couple of applications at three to four weekly intervals. “
Health and Pastoral
EM-X of health: “We give 1ml to our Son who is 6 weeks old, he went from average feed times of just 2.5 hrs to between 3.5 to 5 hrs, he is more content.” EM for Pastures: “I have been using EM on my farm for more than 6 years. I make a liquid fertilizer in large tanks using seaweed and any waste products from the farm including dead animals. The EM is great for breaking down the organic matter and controlling smells from the brew. This is sprayed onto my pastures with great results.”
Home and Garden
HOME: “I use EM every day around my home; for cleaning, for deodorizing pets and pet areas, for preparing food like chicken and fish before cooking. Also, I put EM with my clothes in the washing machine. I use less powder and still get cleaner and softer clothes and it stops static. You can put EM in the dishwashing water, less detergent yet cleans better, especially plastics.
EM makes a healthy environment in the house.”
SPA POOL: “Around the house EM is used down the drains to help the septic tank. Our most surprising use is to keep the spa pool clean. We use a quarter cup of EM weekly. The spa is used every day. Not only does this keep the pool clean but also helps with dry skin conditions. Excellent and cost effective!”
PONDS: "I used EM the other day in 2 large ponds ( approximately 50,000 litres) the water was dark and you could see about 100mm into the ponds, the suggestion was to use some chemical to clear the water, but I put about 5 litres of EM in and within about 5 hours, miraculously the water had cleared, we can now see the bottom of the ponds at about 500mm and the stream that runs between them looks good enough to drink, everyone was amazed at the result. This is just one example of how good this product is. Sadly I only wish more people knew about it.”
GARDEN: "I've been using EM for seven years through all phases of organic vegetable production. I have found EM invaluable in producing fast growth, earlier maturity and extended cropping. EM is in fact the main foundation in the garden, being used for fertiliser Bokashi, compost and in various liquid forms as a disease and insect repellent and as an activator for green manure and residues prior to planting. I can't imagine planting a garden without using EM, highly recommended.”
